Comedian and radio personality Patrice O'Neal died at 41 at a New York-area hospital on Tuesday morning as a result of a stroke he suffered back in October after a long battle with diabetes. Patrice O'Neal is survived by his wife, Vondecarlo Brown, his stepdaughter, Aymilyon, his sister, Zinder, and his mother, Georgia.
Jonathan Brandstein, Patrice O'Neal's manager, said the family wished to thank "all of the fans and friends who have expressed an outpouring of love and support for Patrice these past weeks." "Many of us have lost a close and loved friend; all of us have lost a true comic genius” Jonathan Brandstein said in a statement. Charlie Sheen who had been fired from the hit CBS comedy “Two and a Half Men” in September tweeted: "The entertainment world as well as the world at large lost a brilliant man. Patrice O'Neal was a regular guest on the program “Opie & Anthony Radio Show” and was a familiar face at some New York City TV shows such as "Chappelle Show," "The Office," and "Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn. Patrice O'Neal’s death was announced on Twitter by Opie of the Opie & Anthony Radio Show on Sirius/XM satellite radio: “Yes, it’s true that our pal Patrice O’Neal has passed away,” Opie tweeted. “The funniest and best thinker I’ve ever known PERIOD. #devastated."
