The famed performer Eartha Kitt died of colon cancer in Connecticut on Christmas. She was 81.

Greek protesters call for support
Protesters in Greece call for Europe-wide demonstrations. Protesters raised banners on the Acropolis in Greece calling for demonstrations across Europe on Thursday (December 18). Labour and student groups are planning a national strike in Greece on the same day. Protests have been taking place in the country since the police shooting of a teenage boy on December 6.
